Black Friday is the one day out of the year where almost every store has a major sale or give away after the Thanksgiving holiday. To most shoppers Black Friday is a day where they can save major bucks, but are those major bucks always worth it. People will often even camp out of a store just to make sure they get the deal they want. This year was unlike any other year with most major stores opening earlier Thursday night on Thanksgiving at 8 pm. Almost every year stores don’t open till early Friday morning so this year gave shoppers an extra day to get ahead on their shopping.
Violent incidents have been common on Black Friday’s sadly in the frenzy to get these bargains. People have been stabbed, ran over, beat up and even shot in the frenzy to get a good deal. “A shooting was also reported Thursday night in Las Vegas. Two assailants reportedly attempted to steal a TV from a man who had recently purchased it. After arguing, the man was shot in the leg before the attacker sped off in his car, leaving the TV behind, CBS News 8 reports,”(Huff Post 1). Not only that there is often a lot of shoving or pushing for certain items. Wal-Mart was reported to have been one of the biggest mad houses with people running around the store to grab items and save a couple bucks.
Even though there of course have been some instances of violence among the states out of the millions of people shopping on the holiday the numbers of instances of violence are down from last year which is a plus. My advice is if you aren’t an experienced shopper or want to experience any kind of shoving etc. I would wait another day to shop. The bargains aren’t always worth the hassle. The two articles I analyzed are below.
